Aargh!!

Posted on Dec 17th, 2006 by Phaedrus : Jedi Phaedrus
Found out at the end of last week that the budget for our district's IB program has been frozen, basically due to actions by teachers at the middle schools who are trying to get "payback" for slights real or imagined... in other words, short-sighted, political reasons.  This will, of course, drastically affect the budget for the ONE movie project I have set up.  This project will happen... it's become too important to the students, and it's simply not fair to penalize the kids for the shortsightedness and selfishness of some of my colleagues; I will just have to re-think some things and move forward with a new plan.

In the meantime, does anyone in the Denver area know of a t shirt silk screening company that would be willing to print and donate shirts to the kids, staff, and parents involved in the project?  The shirts could be donated to the school district itself or to the district nonprofit foundation... or, actually, could even be donated through my nonprofit, even though it wouldn't have anything directly to do with outdoor education, though it wouldn't be difficult to incorporate an environmental piece into all of this.....

At any rate, if you are reading this and from the Denver/Boulder area and know of someone who can help, just let me know.

GAH!  Working in public schools is a real challenge somedays.

Tried grant writing? Bill and Melinda Gates are funding a LOT of projects for schools.
You need a clearly written proposal, benchmarks for implementation and measurement, and (hopefully) some kind of demonstrable product (test scores, portfolios, etc.)

just a thought.

Yeah… I did write one grant… no response yet.   Problem is the short time frame precludes any sort of real time to get a grant done.  :-p
