Hard to believe that 30 years ago I was 12 years old and walked out of that movie theater in total awe and was determined that I was going to grow up to be a Jedi. :-)
Kyle, Chet, and I watched the original theatrical release tonight to commemorate the event. So many memories..... :-D

Loved the comment about becoming a Jedi … I was the same age as you when I saw Star Wars and had the same dream. It worries me a bit that George Lucas may have had more influence towards my path to Buddhism than I dare give him credit for!

I was thinking this exact same thought yesterday after reading an article in Shambhala Sun. :-)
Want to read something that only confirms our worry? Check out The Dharma of Star Wars by Matthew Bortolin… it's amazing how much Buddhist thought shows up!
Thanks for the book link, I'll put Dharma of Star Wars on my amazon wish list. I must admit that when I last sat down and watched the star wars films I was struck by the parallels… mind you I also grew up watching David Carradine in Kung Fu so there was no hope for me. And there was me thinking that I had been drawn to the path by awakening to my own suffering, when all along it was Obi Wan and Kwai Chang Caine. Excellent!
